Dear Future Guests,

We very much want you to enjoy your stay at Torre di Sopra. The lifestyle here is relaxed and it is a good place to unwind and enjoy time with your friends and family, and we hope that the reality will be better than the expectation.

The Torre was part of a medieval hamlet and sits on the hill with wide views of rolling Tuscan olive groves and in the distance, one can see the Cupola of the Duomo.

The property is accessed from the provincial road Via Peruzzi and the east side of the property is now two independent homes, with one neighbour who you will never see and the other one only rarely as she leaves early for work.

The grounds comprise one and a half hectares of garden/olive grove for you to enjoy.  We make our own oil in October. The property is fenced with a security gate.

We are on the outskirts of the tiny village of Osteria Nuova [one food shop, small but good, one restaurant/pizzeria, brilliant, both 5 mins on foot ] and we are 2 km from Antella which has a variety of food shops including a small supermarket. On Thursday there is a market. NB Food shops are shut on Sundays.

Torre di Sopra is 10 kilometres  from the Ponte Vecchio  [ 20 mins by car and 25 mins by bus from Antella.]

Transport to Florence is either by car [we can indicate parking] or by bus from Antella, and there is also a bus that runs past the Torre to Antella.

There is a tennis club at Ponte a Ema. [3 kms]

The area of Chianti is nearby, approximately  30 mins to Greve-in -Chianti where there is a famous butcher selling the best salami and prosciutto. The area boasts a selection of wineries of which Cantina Antinori is recommended.

Siena, San Gimignano, Arezzo, and Lucca are all within easy distance for day trips. The sea at Viareggio and Forte di Marmi is a one and a half-hour’s drive.

The motorway runs in a cutting below the property and is visible from the upstairs windows on that side of the Torre. It is audible in the garden and only visible in the distance. The entrance to the motorway, Firenze Sud is approx 8 km.

Depending on the season when in the garden you may hear any of the following:

Blackbirds singing their hearts out, children in the village school playground, church bells, neighbours’ children in their garden, a motorbike on the road, a neighbour’s dog, someone mowing their grass.

But no trains or airplanes, except the odd helicopter going to the local hospital…..Rural life….

We can put you n touch with our Concierge Service to arrange, health restrictions permitting, a variety of activities, from guides, chefs, cookery classes, biking, hiking, and much more.

If you have any questions please do ask as we are only too happy to help.

With best wishes

Jane, and Camilla Sacchi.
